Whether you’re looking to change the feel of a room, find a complimentary color for an adjoining room, or add to the resale value of your home, color selection is an important part of your home improvement plans. Painting new fresh colors is one of the easiest and most affordable ways to quickly change an environment.

Selecting a room color based only on a small color chip can be very difficult. I provide my clients with large color boards that can be displayed in different parts of the room and in various lighting situations. I believe that color selection should be a collaborative process: Together we can find the colors that best suit your tastes and environment.

My color consultations typically involve three steps:

1. Initial interview and discussion of color palette

2. In-home color consultation (typically lasts for 1 to 1 1/2 hours for 2 rooms)

3. Follow-up consultation

Specific features of the process:

Discussion of the color palate and continuity with other elements in the room.
Discussion of continuity with adjoining rooms and the period or style of your home.

The advantages of color boards:

  1. Large size gives a much better sense of how a color will actually look on a wall

  2. Can be displayed without looking at competing colors

  3. Can be moved around the room

  4. No mess or disturbance of the existing color scheme during the consultation process
